EFPP PCFP Online Lecture Series 2026
Organised by the Couple and Family Section of the European Federation of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, this lecture series invites participants to deepen their understanding of couple and family relationships from a psychoanalytic perspective. The first four lectures will focus on the psychoanalytic assessment of various couple and family structures, highlighting clinical thinking and relational complexity.

Michael Stasch: Structural family assessmentStarting with the introduction of a clinical case-example from a multi-professional, psychiatric-psychotherapeutic day-clinic, the challenging necessity for an integrative family-assessment perspective will be carved out and the structural axis of the new diagnostic system „Operationalised Psychodynamic Diagnostics for Relationships OPD-FAM“ will be introduced. OPD-FAM combines established models of family-theory and psychoanalytic concepts, aiming to provide a clinical assessment especially for family-therapy and counselling, but also for family-research. The different levels of family-functioning will be described in detail.Michael is a psychoanalyst, couple and family therapist, supervisor, consultant, teacher and author. He works in private practice in Heidelberg, Germany. He is a specialist in psychodynamic assessment. Co-author of the „Operationalised Psychodynamic Diagnostics“, which meanwhile as been translated into 10 languages and also the co-editor of the german standard work „Handbook of Family Assessment“.
